Brass Knuckles Necklace

If you want to have that “edgy” look on your necklace, consider buying a brass knuckles necklace. These can range from small pendants to much larger pieces of jewelry that hang off a chain, necklace, and even rubber cords. There are a variety of types of these pendants and necklaces to choose from. Read about the types, buying tips, and safety concerns with this type of necklace.

Types of Brass Knuckles Necklaces

Chrome

Chrome is a popular choice for many because it resembles brass knuckles in their traditional form. If buying a chrome necklace, be sure that it’s not too cheap else it will quickly rust with any moisture even from rain. For more durability consider buying a silver pendent instead of chrome.

Rhinestone

Rhinestones are a popular accessory to be used on the brass knuckles. These sometimes are just around the finger holes and other times cover the entire piece of jewelry. Typically the rhinestone versions have problems with the stones falling out.

Silver or Silver Plated

These tend to last longer than the Chrome or steels versions but are also more expensive since it’s silver.

Pewter

Pewter is a solid material that will last. Be sure that you find the lead-free versions.

Paint Finish

Some are covered in a painted finished so that you can get whatever color you want. Some don’t want a metallic finish but would rather have red, blue, pink, black, etc.

Buying Tips

Some brass knuckles necklaces do not show the size of the pendant. There is a reason for this because many times when no size is listed they are no larger than a good luck charm which for most is too small to display on the end of a necklace.

Look for dimensions to make sure you are getting what you actually wanted. Some people get ones that are far too small and are disappointed. If no inches or millimeters are shown, look for a picture on a model to get an idea of the size.

Find brass knuckles that are not attached to the necklace permanently so that you can use them on any necklace of your choice.

For a woman a 16″ or 18″ chain is best so the knuckles can be seen. Men may need 24″ to 30″ on their chains.

Safety

There are quite a bit of cheap jewelry that are made with lead. It’s a good idea to be somewhat skeptical of a low price until you know there is no lead. Be sure that when you do get a necklace or any other form of jewelry that it’s lead free.

On some Rhinestone necklaces where there are fake jewels, the stones tend to fall off. These can cause a safety issue for any pets or children who may put these into their mouth. To avoid this buy more expensive necklaces or keep an eye on your jewelry for any problems like this in your home.

If the necklace is either compliant with CPSIA standards or California’S PROP 65, they are generally lead and toxin free.

A brass knuckles necklace is for show and not actually to be used for a defensive or offensive weapon. Most are not durable enough or even large enough to be used this way.
